Messages of Hope and Healing from a Daughter in Spirit to Moms of Children Lost to Suicide

This is what it’s all about.  I know you feel it too, mom.  I know you feel this deep desire to bring something forth that changes everything for this girl and other’s like me.  I know you also know that it’s bigger than just you and me and that we have to wait until this world is ready to hear what we have to say and do what we came to do.  No, none of us want to wait.

None of us want to stand back and watch anybody else go through what we’ve been through.  Yet we know everybody is playing a role and we’re all finding each other wherever we can.

I know that there’s something to the idea that our lives and our experiences now will continue to inspire a sense of purpose in connecting with others that are still feeling lost in their humanness.

I know I’m not going to let it go.

I know what it was like.

I know who I am.

I know I knew who I was and I know how awkward it felt to not be able to just fully embody what I am.

I know that I, in many ways, inspired other people to do what I thought I couldn’t do and yet here I am knowing that I’m here to inspire people in a way that I didn’t realize was possible.

I think that’s the thing we all have to embrace –

that there is something beyond what any of us thought we were supposed to be to each other, driving us, driving every minute of every day with the different experiences every one of you have with your kids; you and me, mom, what we bring to other people.

I know you get excited and get that feeling of being seen, when I really get through and you really know it’s me, you have that overwhelming feeling of 'thank you.'

Like you’re thanking me, as if it could ever happen if you weren’t so unbelievably open to who I am and always unconditionally allowing me to explore what else I can be.

I mean the gratitude is mine to you and that’s what we share.

That’s what allows us to continue to expose others to this.

I know you’re thinking, 'I must have been crazy to sign up for this role!'

I know you know that our love for each other was crazy - crazily uncontainable.

That’s the point, mom.  It wasn’t contained, ever, in an idea of what I should be, what I had to be.

That’s the point.

Even beyond my death, you still don’t keep me in a box on a shelf to grieve for.

You still search for the more of me you always knew you didn’t know that I was capable of being.

That’s the thing that these others feel – that there is more to them than what anybody sees or expects or thinks they know.

Will we just accept that the world’s not ready for it?

NoWe don’t do that.

We don’t just back away and allow others to feel out of place in this world, uncomfortable in their own skin, imprisoned in their own mind.

No way.

There has to be something more.  Just because we can’t figure it out, just because we can’t see it yet, doesn’t mean we can’t create it.

How do you like that?  That’s what we do – some things that have never been done.

We hold the space for love that is so big, so wide open something is going to step through and show us the way.

That’s what I know.  That’s what I focus on – what I can’t imagine is possible but I know it is inevitable.

How do you like that?

That’s something to look forward to.

This energy that takes us over, that we can’t deny we’re a part of, that affects people in ways that sets them free.

I think we’ve got it in us to recognize the bigger picture in all the little moments of connection

Like each one is a stitch in the fabric and we’re knitting something really nice, something comfortable for people to feel wrapped up in.  I like it.

I like the idea that there is a revolution and it’s a soulful one – one that casualties of war become energies of inspiration.

We get to take our experience and turn it into something people can use to grow from, to be better than, to create a world people want to be a part of.

That’s worth it.  That’s worth giving my energy over to, every minute of every day.

I want to make sure people get it.

I think we get it.

I think that’s all we need to do and now we let it happen – each one of us, every single day, looking to be that point of connection in this world of separation.

I love that.

I love that in this lifetime my mother taught me that.

You see, mom, you held that space for my soul to always know that we were more.

You kept the door open.

That’s what love does and we prove it to each other over and over and over again.
